Growth

Sustainers Circle members are Faith in Place’s most generous donors. They are vital partners, a community of givers who care deeply about our environment and the communities most impacted by polluted air, land, and water, and the climate crisis. Together, we advance Faith in Place’s mission-driven work at the intersection of faith, sustainability, and justice.

The Sustainers Circle builds on the legacy of the Founders Circle. Formed in 2013 to honor Faith in Place founder and Executive Director of 13 years, Rev. Dr. Clare Butterfield, the Founders Circle, helped build a solid financial foundation for expanding our programs, geographic reach, and environmental justice impact. We are immensely grateful for the generosity of Founders Circle donors over these past ten years.

The Sustainers Circle is open to all Faith in Place donors who give $1,000 or more over a calendar year. Donors are then Sustainers Circle members through the entire next year. Members have special access to unique, intimate programming and exclusive networking opportunities, both online and in person, throughout the year. Recent program examples include:

  • Rev. Dr. Otis Moss III, Senior Pastor at Chicago’s Trinity United Church of Christ, discussing his book Dancing in the Darkness: Spiritual Lessons for Thriving in Turbulent Times

  • Steve Sarowitz, a member of the Bahá'í Faith who is also Founder and Chairman of Paylocity, leading us on a visit of the Bahá'í House of Worship for North America

  • Rabbi Michael Zedek and scientist Dr. Jalees Rehman in an engrossing, wide-ranging presentation about miracles, the divine, and humor

Sustainers Circle donors who contribute $5,000 or more during a calendar year are afforded an additional opportunity to select an item of their choice from Faith in Place’s online store. Those who donate $10,000 or more are also offered a personalized, behind-the-scenes tour of a local environmental project in Illinois, Indiana, or Wisconsin.

Gifts counting toward Sustainers Circle membership can be made as unrestricted; or donated for specific purposes, such as to support Faith in Place’s annual Green Team Summit or for our Eco-Ambassador Youth Empowerment Program in Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin.
