what′s new : Faith in Place goes to Rosemont - November 20, 2009

When a bunch of religious environmentalists pile into a Prius and head out to the Rosemont convention center for the EPA hearing on the proposed new rule on large stationary source regulation of greenhouse gases, there are likely to be complications. Finding the parking lot, hiking down the embankment instead of locating the convenient all-season pedestrian tube waaaayyyy on the other side of the lot, these things don't come naturally to those of us who would rather take the el. But we turned out in good number to show our support for this first effort by the EPA to follow the Supreme Court directive from 2 years ago that if they find greenhouse gases to endanger public health and safety under the Clean Air Act they must begin to regulate them. Sure, we'd rather have a bill. But we have to start somewhere. A special shout-out to our friends who showed up. Nancy's testimony was excellent, and Unity Temple was out in force!
