past events : Re-Thinking Soup: Halal / Kosher Food & Philosophy

“Your Guardian-Lord Is God, who created the heavens and the earth in six Days, and is firmly established on the Throne (of authority). He draweth the night as a veil o’er the day, each seeking the other in rapid succession. He created the sun, the moon, and the stars, all governed by laws under His Command. Is it not His to create and to govern? Blessed be God, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the Worlds!” ~Quran S. VII, v. 54

Join us Tuesday for this wonderful interfaith event!

Yvonne Maffei and Leila Shooshani discuss the practices and similarities between Halal & Kosher food and philosophy. Yvonne is the founder and publisher of MyHalalKitchen.com, a food blog providing recipes, tips and information about cooking and eating halal. She is also a consulting chef to schools on incorporating healthy halal meals in school lunch programs and to businesses on understanding the dietary needs of the halal consumer. Leila joined Faith in Place, an interfaith environmental stewardship organization, in August of 2011 through AVODAH: The Jewish Service Corps. She has also spent time working on an organic farm, which incorporates Jewish values into its practice
